To another, I watch like a hawk

Characteristics of a Pedophile
- Rarely forces or coerces a child into sexual contact. Usually through trust and friendship. Physical contact is gradual, from touching, to picking up, to holding on lap, to kissing, etc.
- Like by both adults and kids
- Dates women who have children
- Prefs the company of children
- Appears to be trust worthy and dependable
- Likes managerial and leadership roles, preferably the ones with kids, like Boy Scouts and coaching
- Singles out children who seem troubled and in need of attention or affection
- "Grooms" children with quality time, video games, parties, candy, toys, gifts, money
- Quite possibly attracted to pre-adolescent kids, but whichever the age group desired, stays with that particular age group
- Are primarily (but not always) male, masculine, better-educated, more religious than average, in their thirties, and choose jobs allowing them greater access to children.
- Are usually family men, have no criminal record, and deny that they abuse children, even after caught, convicted, incarcerated, and court-ordered into a sex offender program. The marriage is often troubled by sexual dysfunction, and serves as a smokescreen for the pedophile's true preferences and practices.
- Usually were sexually abused themselves as kids
- Whether or not they have kid, tey have a home inviting to kids
- A female pedophile usually abuses a child when partnered with an adult male pedophile, and is often herself a victim of chronic sexual abuse.
- A pedophile can act independently, or be involved in an organized ring, including the Internet, NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association), and other pro-pedophilia groups. Some pedophiles recognize that their behavior is criminal, immoral, and unacceptable by society, and operate in secrecy. Some are quite open and militant about their practices and advocate the normalization of pedophilia under the guise of freedom of speechand press, and uses innocuous language like "intergenerational intimacy."
- The Exclusive type of pedophile is attracted to children only. The Non-Exclusive is attracted to both children and adults.
- they are wherever children can be found, irrespective of age, race, education, occupation, class, social standing, or income.

It's never your fault. It's never okay for you or your child or someone you love to be abused, especially in a sexual way. Though this is not a subject that is highly entertaining and enjoyable to read, it may just save a life!

Difficult one indeed. Once again, your hands-on experience (also no pun intended) gives you and then the wider hubbing community, valuable insights. But what can we do to change these sicko's- or even convince them of the need to change themselves and their twisted desires? Sometimes I despair, I really do. You always make me think about things I wouldn't otherwise entertain. That's a good power you have there.
Age old problem that will remain and all we can do is try to guard against them and catch them when we can. They cannot change so they must be kept away from their prey at all costs. Thanks for the great and most disturbing hub. The second video won't work for me.
ralwus: just click the triangle...it looks like a bad link, but I've check it numerous times. I almost threw up when seeing the last video. My spouse said no one would read this crap because it was too depressing. However, there is nothing wrong or sick about writing about these things. People need to know what's going on out there and be an advocate for change. I don't think exploiting this crap is entertaning by all means, and we should take the victims' stories with respect and dignity. There is, by the way, no treatment for sexual deviances. Whether they are incarcerated or on the streets, they will always have perverse and heinous thoughts. We can only watch them closely and hope they don't strike again.
The fact that a group like NAMBLA exists is just...incredibly odd.

Wow. Very touchy subject Asher (and NO that was not a pun). Kudos to you for sharing. These guys get the worst treatment in jail and if you're like me, you'll believe that they will also roast in the life after.
